We had an amazing walking city tour with a guide through Florence today. Many beautiful churches, plazas, and yes “the David”, which is just exquisite.

We even had an opportunity to visit a wine door below – our wonderful guide Leonardo is included. We also learned the origin of the margherita pizza, named after Queen Margherita of Italy, and sampled one at the end of the tour.

We arrived yesterday afternoon after taking the high speed train from Naples – very comfortable and very efficient. Our boutique hotel is right in the Santa Maria Novella. It’s a small hotel but very lovely.

So comfortable – tomorrow we tour Tuscany.
